The school-age orphanage in Albania's capital city of Tirana was our first. Since 1992, we have seen hundreds of children grow up through this facility, many of them coming to know the Lord there.
When Roger first visited, the children were sleeping 30 to a room covered with smelly, threadbare blankets and no mattresses or heat.
That winter Roger returned to Tirana and provided the children there their first Christmas. Before the children went to bed that night, they all took turns thanking Roger for their presents.
While they clutched the toys and trinkets he had gotten them in their little hands, what they thanked Hope for the World for was fixing the boiler so that they were warm, and for providing the first mattresses many of them had ever slept on.
As our ministry has grown this past 25 years, we have seen this orphanage and the children within it grow and develop beyond our wildest dreams.
Through you, our sponsers, the children in Tirana now have not only heat and mattresses, but computer labs, study rooms, dormitories, a healthy diet, state of the art soccer field, and so much more...
Most importantly, our staff and the countless groups and individuals who have supported and gone on mission trips with us have shown them LOVE. They have constant support, counseling and discipleship from our staff in Albania.
With the parental type love these children receive, we have watched their general behavior through the years go from somewhat unruly to that of brothers and sisters.
Where once there was a dog-eat-dog world from the youngest ages, we now see the older children taking care of and teaching the younger.
We see them helping each other, caring for each other. We have watched how, through Christ, even the most desperate situations can turn into family.
Along with caring for the needy in Albania for over 25 years, Roger and Cherie have spent a lifetime in Evangelism, Gospel music and soul-winning services for Christ Jesus.
